My Philosophy in Practice

Why do I do this work? What kind of a person am I anyway? Fair questions.

I’m not a drill sergeant, a guru, or someone who has it all figured out. The word “coach” doesn’t sit right with me either. I understand that most people don’t like to be told what to do, so I try to work a different angle. I provide those who choose to work with me new information and give them an opportunity for discernment. If what you think you know hasn’t been working for you, it’s time to seek out new information. Everyone needs a fresh pair of eyes to check their blind spots. Sometimes information you already have, offered through a different lens, can bring the right answers into view.

What motivates me in this field is not exactly part of the curriculum but it does provide a framework for my programs. So if you want to know how I hold space in my practice, the following may give you some insight.

You have the keys.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that if you have a health related problem to solve, the solution is already available. None of us are powerless. Yet we so often will give our power away to institutions, medical professionals, and even loved ones we want to trust yet can’t help us. When we don’t get the help we need, it can erode confidence within ourselves that we can heal. This is how we come to normalize dysfunction and resign ourselves to feeling like a prisoner in our own body.

We are socialized to believe all sorts of nonsense that denaturalizes us and separates us from our higher self.

“We can’t be well without drugs”,

“We can’t be happy without eating the same super processed, non-food products being pushed (nonstop) onto us”,

“We can’t be satisfied unless we keep buying more things.”

Messages like these turn into stories many of us tell ourselves. It’s appealing to not have to be contrary to norms we are conditioned to accept. It’s easier. These stories however, will eventually manifest problems for all of us in different ways. Breaking up with false narratives can unlock so many closed doors. This is when things truly get interesting.

You are not your disease.

I often connect clients to doctors and medical providers I know and trust. I’m especially partial to true functional medicine practitioners. Functional medicine inspires the idea of not reducing patients down to a label of disease. It also is founded in the idea of seeking the root cause. My vision of a great doctor is one who doesn’t want to manage your disease for you. They want to free you from it. You being in the driver seat of your own health is essential to your healing process. I believe in doctors who support their patients move into a healing mindset.

Your digestive dysfunction is not from a deficiency of prescription drugs and it won’t be healed with an ongoing $500 monthly supplement protocol either. Your lifestyle MUST change or you will cycle back to managing your dysfunction instead of healing from it. Everyone is capable of healing from a dysfunction (EVERYONE). Any medical professional who doesn’t believe in the immense power of diet and lifestyle changes by now is the kind of professional I personally will run from, not run to.

You are not a victim.

Every single bad thing that happens to us is an opportunity for us to grow and learn. It is anyone’s life purpose to discover their soul’s true potential while here. Hard things and hard times are how we are challenged to figure that out. Regardless of your background or genetic makeup, no one is impervious to experiencing suffering, grief, pain, and hardship. You may not be to blame for every single bad thing that happens to you, but you are responsible for the work required to recover from it.

You are accountable.

You do the work, you do the healing. No doctor or person in your life is responsible for the choices you “get” to make. Whether it’s how you waste your time, spend your money, or what you choose to put on the end of your fork, it is always “your” choice. You reap the reward from that choice or accept the consequence of that choice. Your spouse, your mom, your kids, your coworkers are not to blame. There is a tremendous amount of freedom in taking responsibility for EVERY SINGLE THING that effects you.

Take responsibility for what you resent, what you lack, and why you feel hurt. Take responsibility for the extra weight you are carrying. Take responsibility for why you’re still stuck in a dead-end job or unfulfilling relationship. You are responsible for the “I don’t have time for that” mantra too. When you choose to recognize that all of your problems are “YOUR” problems, your script flips. The story instantly changes.

It is only from a place of accountability where we are mentally positioned to start changing bad habits. Next comes the clarity to manifest what we truly need. The healing process begins. This in a nutshell is how I will support you in my practice. No profound, reality bending discoveries here…..just simple, straightforward ownership of what’s required to get what you want. Breakthroughs will happen spontaneously and are free of charge.
